 the documentary

"Mafi Rabia" is an arabic expression that literally means "There is no more the spring" and it is also the title of a documentary edited and directed by Thomas Wild Turolo with the subject written and translated by Dr.Alberto Savioli.

"Mafi Rabia", shot clandestinely in Syria between 2009 and 2010, before the beginning of nowadays civil war, tells the story of bedouin tribes and their difficult lives in the Syrian desert.

The bedouin traditions go back centuries ago, however, in today's world, they have been jeopardized by several factors, including exploitation of water resources, droughts and new breeding habits.

These above factors have compromised the bedouins' lifestyle and have changed their attitude towards being travellers. The Syrian bedouins have now become a more sedentary population.

"Mafi Rabia" is a unique video-documentary in its genre as nobody has ever made one about the Syrian bedouins. It is the real voice of this ethnic group, freed from any misconception or any forced representation. The war has actually changed the real conditions of life in Syria, for these reasons, this documentary will be probably unrepeatable.
